Who we are

The Indian Railway Cancer Institute and Research Centre (IRCIRC) was established by the North Eastern Railway (NER) to provide cancer care services to their employees and their families. In 2017, NER on behalf of Indian Railways, Government of India entered into a MoU with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai on behalf of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, for the upgradation of cancer care services and facilities at IRCIRC.

An accelerated process of renovation, extension and induction of new equipment was carried out to make a swift and effective transition. Within a span of 6 months the new edifice of the Centre was ready. The project has been supported by the philanthropic gesture of Tata Trusts and implemented by the Cancer Care Programme team of the Trusts. The upgraded centre has been christened as Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Varanasi (HBCH) and is managed by Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai on behalf of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

What we do

The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Varanasi, has been providing quality cancer care to the NER employees, their dependents and the people of the state and the region since initiation of operations with special focus on childhood cancers and adult liquid malignancies including Bone Marrow Transplant facility.

The comprehensive care provided at HBCH spans from prevention and early detection through diagnosis and treatment to palliative care. The best of experts and equipment have been made available. Integrated multidisciplinary and patient centric approach is adopted for achieving best outcomes. The services are highly subsidized and have been very well received by the people of the region.

Extensive use of Information Technology has ensured availability of information for prompt decision making and portability of the Electronic Medical Records.
